About this trip

A technical mountaineering climb to Aguja Guillaumet (2,550m), one of the most emblematic granite spires of El Chaltén, approached via Piedra del Fraile with a bivouac at Piedra Negra. Three days is the base programme; the five-day option adds a preparation day in town and a weather backup day, and is the recommended one.

Day by day

Day 1

Río Eléctrico bridge → Piedra del Fraile → bivouac at Piedra Negra. Departure around 8:00 with transfer.

Day 2

Summit day: early start, 2–3 h approach, climb, descent and return to the Piedra Negra bivouac.

Day 3

Piedra Negra → Río Eléctrico bridge → El Chaltén, return by transfer.
